paradox collage finally finished

I posted some progress on this blog before so I figured I would share the finished product. It took 3 years and is extremely large. So I recommend using the flash viewer.

My friend Alex built a flash applet so you can zoom by click the image and the pan around to see everything.

I haven't uploaded in a while because I have been homeless. However now I have a place again and a steady job working for the state so back to recording. Hopefully Ill have more and more material to put here. For now some slow surf rock. Hopefully I can get someone to work on it with me so I can finish it and get some new ideas in it.

Piano track

So I am going to work my way backwards with newest first. The newest one is a piano track. Jeff dropped by with his piano and left it at my house so I have been playing with it since it is much more powerful than my old one it has been very entertaining. I will probably be playing with that more than my guitar till it goes away.

The second track is from a Jam session before Robbie went up to Chico and Ricky who is extremely talented. This is probably my favorite song I have ever contributed too. I really enjoyed the whole session but this one for me really stuck out. Hope you enjoy it.

There have been a few other tracks that I have put together and felt were decent enough to upload as well which first is an experiment with alternate tuning which has become a hobby. I find just switching up the tuning and playing until something coherent comes out is an incredible amount of fun. So here is my experiment with that.

I did a few others but this one was particularly interesting to me.

What I have noticed about my work is that I tend to crowd everything together and the sound either gets overwhelming or muddy. There are definitely times where it works out but I think I should practice the other end of spectrum and attempt a minimalist style. That way I know I can do both and not limit myself to continue playing one style. In other words its time to break the cycle.

When I'm bored I try to quickly remedy it - one of the things I have been doing lately is putting on a suit and interviewing my friends over ichat video conference. I wrote a theme song and got a few laughs. Figure I would upload the theme song provide some pictures to share a little more of my life here. Hope you enjoy it.

I have been playing a lot of piano lately, I have always wanted to learn the song Arabesque no. 1 by Debussy so it is all I am thinking about. I am at measure four and while it may seem impossible now it is weird how what seemed impossible becomes second nature. I have been recording in between trying to learn the song/practice and came up with this.
